My Approach to Wellbeing PART 1.
How habit awareness became part of my approach:
It all started with curiosity and observing that:
→ Most people know how they should eat but still don’t succeed in improving their lifestyle.
→ Most people know what they should do and not do, but they still find change very challenging.
→ Most people have made lifestyle changes and then fell back into their old ways of being.
So before I did the Life Coaching course, I practised Nutritional Therapy and started seeing the same pattern with most clients. Nearly everyone knows what they are meant to be eating but for some reason it turns out to be very challenging to make permanent changes. For some reason creating a lifestyle that supports your wellbeing but does not feel restricting and overwhelming seems impossible.
The topics that often surfaced were similar to these:
Why can't you just stop eating/doing x,y,z and start eating “healthy”?
Why can't you keep up with your new diet after a few weeks have passed?
Why do you get bored with your new diet shortly after a lifestyle change?
Why does it all feel so challenging and overwhelming?
Why do you all of a sudden fall of the wagon?
Why are some habits so challenging to get rid of?
So after this I concentrated on learning about habits and how the brain works when you are making changes. How to actually make gradual, long term changes without being very overwhelmed and feeling like your lifestyle change is controlling your whole life. And the habit awareness and how to create long lasting habits is now a big part of my work as a Nutritional Therapist.
