My Approach to Wellbeing PART 2.
Why do you have certain habits in the first place?
Why do you need to control your diet and exercise with plenty of restrictions?
Why can’t you just stop certain habits that easily and start better ones?
Why do you reach out for snacks when you feel overwhelmed/stressed/tired?
Why do you repeat the same actions over and over again?
Why does your motivation disappear after a while?
Why can’t you shake off the emotional eating, even if you recognise the pattern and know you should just replace it with something better?
So I dived deeper into my own practice and found that the missing thing was underestimating the power of the mind. Underestimating your emotional wellbeing and how important it is to be able recognise how you are feeling and what you are feeling. And the biggest part, to be able to actually sit with your feelings and learn how to express them. Being able to recognise the storylines behind the emotions and beliefs that are holding you back.
Recognising the importance of emotional wellbeing helped me to understand that all the control and restrictions, that are often part of a “healthy” lifestyle, are no longer necessary once you’ll work with the underlying emotions and beliefs.
And this is where the coaching became part of my approach. As so many of us, myself included, have not been taught how to be with our emotions, especially the challenging ones that we are often trying to numb or avoid.
And I found coaching so amazingly beneficial for any kind of change as it will help you to see what is keeping you from achieving your goals. Because after all, nearly 90% of your behaviour is coming from your subconscious mind and accessing its power is a huge advantage when trying to change behaviour like exercise and eating habits. With coaching practices you can clear a lot of blockages and get to know yourself on a deeper level. This helps you to start recognising your needs, emotions, values and create a lifestyle that supports your wellbeing.
